The "Breast for Life" Project was
started by two women with breast cancer,
who before undergoing
mastectomies, donated castings of their breasts to be used in an art
project designed to raise awareness for early detection and
education of breast cancer. A call to artists was conducted in
August 2011 to find artists who would be willing to donate their
time and materials to paint / design / decorate a breast casting to
be auctioned off with 100 % of the proceeds going to a breast cancer
foundation. Over 26 artists from all over Tucson have signed up to
paint a casting to be auctioned off at the “Pause For Beauty Art
Show” at Toscana Studio and Gallery in Oro Valley, AZ.

This show is also featuring the work of the Southern Arizona Arts
Guild members. The support and camaraderie that came together to
cast these sculptures to make this project possible was incredible.
Breast cancer affects so many in one way or another and this project
will bring to light, not only the beauty of the breast, but also to
raise awareness of early detection and education. We are ever so
grateful to all of the artists who have asked to be a part of this
project.
A very special thanks goes out to Marjon
Ceramics for supplying the plaster, and to Saundra Trumbull, Linda
Potter, Carol Beckwith, Robert Munoz, and Susan Oyler who spent
countless hours producing the castings to make this all possible!
Thank YOU!
We are forever grateful!
The auction and show will be held on
October 29, 2011 at the gallery from 6-9 PM. It will run through
November 29, 2011.
"Pause For Beauty" - October 29, 2011 - 6:00 pm -9:00 pm.

This is an annual member show for the Southern Arizona
Arts Guild and will represent a multitude of "Beautiful" art in
many media.
"In a time where there is so much uncertainty in the world, a
remembrance that we must stop and smell the roses, see the beauty
all around us, and join with friends and family to celebrate Life
and Beautiful Art. Entries will reflect the artists unique view of
what Beauty is. Since Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, this
will be a very interesting show."
