Sarah has a unique, colorful and
painterly style. She is known nationally for her expressive
portraits of wildlife and domestic animals that are
characterized by sensitivity to the animal’s soul. The first
day’s concentration will be on line and form, gesture and
color studies. We will paint an animal photo of your choice
on the second day. Bring your own photo or select from
Sarah’s references. Supply list available upon request.

|Two Day Plein Air
with Palette Knife Painter Roger Alderman
Saturday and Sunday, November 1
& 2, 2014
9:00 am - 3:00 pm
Learn to paint in a loose, bright and bold style in this
3-day plein air intensive workshop. Learn the fundamentals
of plein air painting while creating an oil painting that
expresses your inner passion and joy de verve. The emphasis
will be on creating an expressive, well-composed painting,
rich with color and bravura paint application.
This course is designed for any skill level from beginning
to advanced. Painting on location in the morning we will
learn how to simplify and create a compelling composition.
Learn how to capture light with a simplified outdoor palette
by understanding the basics of color mixing, value and
temperature control. In the afternoon, we return to the
studio to refine our plein air paintings or develop a larger
Paint application is important in the workshop and you will
learn how to use a palette knife in developing your style.
Each day begins with a painting demonstration. Expect to
create a painting a day with lots of personal instruction at
the easel. Come prepared to have fun and discover the joy of
