Mordecai Colodner I was born in, and grew up in Brooklyn, New York. I attended Brooklyn College for two years, transferred to Parsons School of Design, Graphic Design Department, where in addition to Graphic Design, I studied painting and drawing under Stephen Greene and Fred Koenigsberg and graduated in 1957. After a career as a Graphic Designer, I moved to Tucson in March 2005. It is the culmination of a long held dream…to live surrounded by the beauty of the Catalina Mountains, near some of my children and grandchildren, with the time and space to express some of my ideas for painting and sculpture. Before leaving N.Y., I started a series of works I call “Visual Midrash” wherein I take a phrase or scene from the Torah and express it as a visual commentary. I have continued to create “Visual Midrash” in Tucson and have also done landscapes of the Catalina's and branched out into purely abstract works. I have exhibited at the Tucson Jewish Community Center with the Jewish Artist’s Guild and at several Israel Art Fairs. I exhibited at the Turquoise Bull Gallery in Catalina and at Gallery 2402 in Tucson. And in a juried show at Holy Joe Gallery. I have also exhibited with SAAG (Southern AZ Arts Guild) at Pima County Chamber of Commerce auction at The El Conquistador and at their group show at Toscana Gallery. I also exhibited at the Desert Museum where 2 of my paintings were sold at auction to benefit the museum. Two of my landscape paintings were sold at auction to benefit the Sky Island Alliance.  I currently have 2 paintings in the SAACA juried exhibition at Ventana Medical Systems.
