With great honor, Linda Ahearn has
accepted a nomination for a 2012 Governor's Art Award in the
Arts Education-Individual Category. The Governor's Arts Awards
has been presented annually since 1981 by Arizona Citizens for
The Arts, in partnership with the Arizona Commission on the Arts
and the office of Governor. These awards are considered the most
prestigious in Arizona and recognize excellence in artistic
expression and outstanding contribution to the Arizona arts
community.
Among 80 nominees in six categories, recognition will be given
at this years annual Governors Arts Awards celebration scheduled
for March 27, 2012.
Congratulations to Linda Ahearn and a HUGE Thank you to all of
the artists, young and old, who have come together in this
little studio to make this achievement possible! As a community,
anything is possible! Thank you!

"Breasts
for Life Project"

is honored to present our upcoming show:
"Pause For Beauty" - October 29, 2011 - 6:00 pm -9:00 pm.
This is an annual member show for the Southern Arizona
Arts Guild and will represent a multitude of "Beautiful" art in
many media.
During this show, Toscana Studio and Gallery, in conjunction
with The Southern Arizona Arts Guild (SAAG) is launching "The
Breast Project", a project that has been in development for 2
years. Breast cancer survivors volunteered to donate their
bodies for casting pre and post surgery/reconstruction. These
busts will be cast and several artists will be selected to
create a piece of art depicting their unique view, or experience
with breast cancer. 100% of the proceeds from the silent auction
will be donated to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

Driving north on Oracle Road into Oro Valley, one is likely to miss the small,
unassuming building that houses Toscana Studio & Gallery. It is
often identified as the structure with the blue girl sitting on
the roof. She may be waiting for the sunset or waving to
unseeing drivers whisking by. She doesn’t mind if they don’t
wave back – she’s a sculpture – a portrait of owner Linda
Ahearn’s daughter...more

Explorer, Tucson, AZ.
Linda Ahearn is making a plaster casting of her sister's breast.
When she's finished, she'll paint the casting and give it as gift to
her older sister, Marianne Gouveia, a breast cancer patient who has
since had a double mastectomy. Tomorrow, Ahearn is making 50
such casting of Marianne's breast. They'll be given to well-established artist across the country, and
painted for sale, with funds to support the Susan G. Komen
Foundation.
“Linda asked me if I would mind if she could do a casting,” Gouveia
said. “I said 'No, go right ahead'.
While she works, Ahearn, owner of the Toscana Studio and Gallery in
Oro Valley, wears a long jean vest splattered with years of paint,
plaster and clay.
The vest's sleeves are ripped off at the tattered seam along the
shoulder to expose her red long-sleeved undershirt....more

classes at Toscana Studio and Gallery in Oro Valley. Oro
Valley sculptor Linda Ahearn opened the gallery last August at 9040
N. Oracle Road in hopes of bringing the arts closer to home in her
